I’m Billy Paynter and I have been a guitarist for 13 years. In that time I have achieved Grade 8 in electric guitar, a distinction* from Access To Music and have also completed a 2.1 BA(hons) degree in Popular Music from Anglia Ruskin University. I also have a DBS check.
I have played in multiple bands/acts and written/recorded music for a few video games, however I am currently working more on the guitar teaching side as I find it much more rewarding. I have set up events with St George’s Theatre based around showcasing local musicians.
I pride myself on teaching music theory, improvisational skills but also I really enjoy when my students choose their own songs to work on, so I can get a better idea of what techniques would be useful for them. I teach all ages and all music genres, but specialise in rock and pop music. Above all else, I keep my lessons fun and interesting, because I’ve seen from past clients, people are always more likely to progress when engaged!
